Commissioning a Piece
Every commission I create is designed and made specifically for one client. Unlike my standard work, a commission is a collaborative process involving research, design discussions, sketches, material selection and regular communication throughout the build.
Creating a truly unique piece requires a significant investment of time before the first piece of steel is heated. For this reason, commissioned work is priced differently from items made for general sale.
Commission Pricing
As a guide, commissions begin at:
Custom mono-steel daggers – from £1,000
Custom mono-steel swords – from £2,000
Custom pattern-welded (Damascus) swords – from £4,000
These are guide prices. The final cost depends on the complexity of the design, materials, fittings, scabbards and any additional decorative work.
The Commission Process
Each project begins with a discussion about your ideas and requirements. Once a direction has been agreed, I will prepare a quotation based on the scope of the work.
Commissions involve considerably more time than producing a piece for general sale. Alongside the forging and finishing, they include design work, planning, material sourcing and ongoing communication throughout the project.
To ensure every commission receives the attention it deserves, I only undertake a limited number each year.

Film & Television Work
I occasionally receive requests for exact replicas of weapons I have made for film and television productions. Unfortunately, I am unable to accept these commissions, as the designs and associated intellectual property are protected by licensing and copyright agreements. I am, however, happy to discuss original pieces inspired by a particular historical period, style or aesthetic, provided they do not reproduce protected designs.
